About the Diocese
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III is the 117th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark. His Holiness' era is marked by a remarkable growth in the number of Coptic churches abroad. To address the needs of these churches, His Holiness felt the urgency to establish dioceses in Egypt and abroad. Thus the Coptic Orthodox diocese of Ireland, Scotland, North East England and its affiliated regions was established in the UK in 1995. H.H. Pope Shenouda III appointed His Grace Bishop Antony to oversee this Diocese.
